How to Use Cricut Maker 3 to Make a Custom Bookmark?
To teach you the usage of Cricut Maker 3, I will walk you through each step, which includes creating and cutting a design and finally applying it to the blank. Let’s first create a design.
Step 1: Creating a Bookmark Design
First of all, you need to cut the ribbon to the desired length using scissors. Here, ensure that the length is enough for your book. Refer to this picture to get an idea!
After cutting the ribbon, you should move to the Design Space to create a design. Don’t worry! There is nothing complex to create. The design I made on Design Space was superb and easy. Anyone can make it in a few seconds.
So, first of all, open a Design Space and start creating a new project.
When I was making this bookmark, I only added a text from a Text library.
Next, you should measure the width of the ribbon and hence change the height of the font accordingly from the Edit menu.
So, when you have finalized your design, you need to hit the Make It button. On the next screen, you will see a preview screen where you will see the placement of your design on the Cricut mat. Also, ensure you have turned on the Mirror button.
Mirroring is crucial whenever you are working on an iron-on project. In addition, when we are cutting a text, this step is very important.
Step 2: Setting Up the Materials
After mirroring your design, you need to hit the Continue tab and then start following the instructions given on the screen. Once done, the next step comes where you will need to set up your materials on Design Space.
In the next step, you are finally going to learn how to use Cricut Maker 3. Excited? Let’s delve into it!
Step 3: Cutting and Applying Your Design

FAQs
Question 1: What can you do with a Cricut Maker 3?
Answer: The Maker 3 is the robust machine in Cricut’s lineup. This machine is so powerful that it lets you quickly cut more than 300 materials. Whether it is intricate designs or hard materials such as cardstock or poster board, Cricut can easily handle it. Coming to the possibilities with Cricut Maker 3, you can make large-size vinyl decals, colorful stickers, personalized apparel, cards, leather jewelry, and much more.
Question 2: What blade comes with Cricut Maker 3?
Answer: The good news is that your Cricut Maker 3 has a Premium Fine-Point Blade with a pre-installed Blade Housing in Clamp B. This blade is made from German Carbide, which is considered the most durable material for cutting any type of material. Since the tool has a 45° angle, it is perfect for cutting intricate designs. In short, you can easily cut materials such as paper, vinyl, iron-on, and more in one go!
Question 3: Can you engrave using Cricut Maker 3?
Answer: Yes, you can engrave various materials such as stainless steel, pewter, leather, acrylic, aluminum, copper, and acetate. While engraving these materials, ensure that the thickness of materials should not exceed 2mm. You should not use the thicker material because it may get stuck under the roller bar of the Cricut machine. As a result, it will damage your machine, so measuring your blank before cutting is advisable for all users.
